Draft Port Campbell Parking Review
Council is seeking community feedback on the draft Port Campbell Parking Review. This review aims to improve access to existing parking in the town and improve traffic and pedestrian safety.
The development of draft Parking Review was informed by:
- parking and traffic surveys undertaken in December 2025 and January 2026.
- a community survey undertaken during March 2026 to understand residents, businesses and visitors' issues and priorities relating to parking.
The Review provides recommendations to improve parking access in the town which are listed below.
Note that whilst some parking restrictions are recommended, paid parking is not proposed.
Recommendations
Parking Restrictions
1. Introduce daytime 2-hour parking restrictions in Lord Street between Cairns Street and Morris Street, with five half-hour parking spaces to be located near the supermarket.
2. Introduce seasonal (e.g. December-April) daytime 4-hour parking spaces along Cairns Street between Tregea Street and Lord Street, and along the north side of Lord Street between Lord Street and the jetty.
Reconfigure parking spaces
3. Reconfigure parking spaces along the Cairns Street foreshore to provide 2.6m-wide parking spaces.
4. Engage with GORCAPA about widening central spaces in Fisherman’s Car Park to 3.2m wide.
Oversized vehicles
5. Consider the provision of one bus space on each of Tregea Street and Cairns Street, south of Lord Street, with ‘P10 Minute, Bus Only’ restrictions for drop-off and pick-up of visitors.
6. Install an on-street loading zone on Lord Street, allowing for loading activities during the day on weekdays and car parking outside of these times, with a ‘Loading Zone, 15 Minute, 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri’ restriction.
7. Install ‘No Trucks’ at either end of Lord Street. These would not apply to vehicles conducting loading activities along Lord Street.
8. Install signage directing long vehicles, i.e. cars with trailers, motorhomes etc. to park on Morris Street, or Lord Street, east of Morris Street.
9. Continue discussions with the Department of Transport and Planning regarding the design and construction of accessible bus stop(s) at Lord Street, north of Morris Street.
Improved linemarking and signage
10. Install ‘No Stopping’ signage and/or linemarking at the entrance to the jetty to ensure access is available for boat trailers.
11. Install updated signage at the entrance to the Fisherman’s car park stating ‘No Overnight Camping’ and ‘No Stopping in Long Vehicle Spaces, 3am-11am, Boat Trailers excepted’.
12. Install compliant ‘No Stopping’ signs on the east side of Cairns Street, south of Lord Street.
Parking Enforcement
13. Conduct parking enforcement, with discussions to be held with Warrnambool City Council regarding the system used for parking enforcement.
