FAQs
What are the main drivers behind this project?
This project is being influenced by several important factors. The existing facility is becoming outdated, and upkeep expenses are steadily increasing. While there's a need to boost participation rates, compliance challenges are also surfacing. If no action is taken, fewer people may take part in community sports, which could prevent the Centre from fulfilling local needs. As the population grows and ages, it’s essential for the Centre to evolve to address the community's future demands.
Will the community be involved?
Yes. Community input is central to this project. Consultation and stakeholder engagement focuses on identifying needs and priorities.
What will the redeveloped facility look like?
Designs aren’t part of the project scope at this point. Through consultation, we’ll gather community input on the services, programs, and spaces people value most. This feedback will shape the layout, functionality, and overall feel of the future facility.
What sports and activities could the upgraded Centre support?
Community feedback will determine which sports, programs, and activities are prioritised. Options may include basketball, squash, fitness and wellness programs, youth and senior activities, inclusive programs and events, or even new uses not yet considered.
What happens next?
Council, with support from Otium Planning Group, is leading the next stage of planning. This involves assessing regional demand and need. Community insights, combined with planning data, will guide a detailed schedule for future design options. Your feedback will be crucial to ensuring the Centre reflects local priorities and delivers lasting benefits for Corangamite and beyond.
Will the redevelopment definitely go ahead?
No. The project is still in its early planning phase. Developing strong, community-driven needs and demand is the first step.
